New Science Building

The New Science Building (SCIENC) opens with BIOL courses Anatomy and Physiology, Ecology, and Genetics. Teaching labs, additional courses, and state-of-the-art research facilities will be open in January 2022. SCIENC will meet growing demand and enrollment at UNC Charlotte which has increased 142 percent since 1985. This Fall BIOL supports >1300 undergraduate majors and 70 graduate students. Home to Biological Sciences, Chemistry, and Physics, the building’s program emphasizes the undergraduate learning experience while meeting increased demand for graduate research space. It features instructional and teaching labs, a balance of formal and informal spaces for students to engage with each other and faculty. The expansion of undergraduate research opportunities is also being prioritized, focusing on integrating interdisciplinary research space to support the science program’s overall mission.
