Small changes over time can add up to large impacts in the classroom and in our department. To this end, the DEI

committee wants to help you in incorporating these inclusive changes.

In each newsletter we will share an article that has validated references and proven methods to help promote DEI. If you just need practical ideas to use today, simply read the bulleted points.

Small Changes to Adopt Inclusive Pedagogical Practices

  • ● Check in with students using a quick autograded survey asking students about themselves, their experiences and goals.

  • ● Have students tell/Zoom chat/email/Poll Everywhere/ message you about one thing they wish their teacher knew about them.

○ If you have a large class you can always review a subset to get a snapshot or have a TA/preceptor summarize key findings for you.
